Favorite Photos from 2022

I thought it would be fun to look back at some of my family photo sessions and senior photo sessions from this year and pick out some of my favorites.  

You might wonder what makes a photo a favorite.  Well, it can be a number of things such as:

  • The image tells a story.
  • There was a special, meaningful reason for the photo session, such as they are celebrating a special milestone, or are celebrating overcoming a challenge in their life.
  • Our collaboration in planning the session worked well and the end result was what the client wanted but also some unplanned but memorable photos. 
  • The session had challenges but in the end, we got some great photos and the client was really happy. 
  • I have warm memories from the photo session, meaning we had fun during the session and both the client and I left the session excited to see the results. 
  • I just like the overall look of an image - the composition, poses and expressions.

Interestingly, sometimes the images that I like from a photography perspective may not be the client's favorite.  And that is okay because sometimes you see something subtle in a family member's expression and I don't have that personal knowledge, but it is what makes that image special to you - and that's what is most important!
