I was reminded recently that we all have areas of our lives that we place priorities on and that impacts our actions. Some priorities are more compelling than others. And they all come at a different price. For a few years, Randy and I have been considering adding a pergola or patio cover in our backyard. The options and prices are endless and frankly I'm in a bit of information overload at the moment. The more we have researched, it is clear that to get quality materials that are going to last, it will cost more - not really a surprise there, is it?
Along those lines, I can’t pass up this opportunity to talk about the importance of getting family portraits made on some regular basis. And most important, order the biggest size you have space for and can afford and put it on the wall and enjoy it - everyday!
The mom of a friend recently contacted me because one of her sons who is stationed on the west coast, was able to bring his family back for Christmas. She had not expected him to be able to come and was so excited. She wanted to get a picture made of him and his family with her and her husband. But wait, I asked her about her other 2 sons, who live in the area and didn’t she want to have them in the photograph too! She said, "That would be wonderful, but I don’t know if we can make that happen." Well, we were able to make it happen and now we have a portrait of her and her husband, her mother, their three sons, wives and a total of 13 grandchildren! PRICELESS!
I would like to show you her portrait on the wall in her home, but sadly, she decided she didn’t want to pay for it, despite giving her multiple price options. I told her no client has ever told me they regretted their wall portrait purchase.
Notice I said, she didn't Want to pay for it - not that she couldn't, and like many of us, I believe she just couldn't give herself permission to spend the money because she couldn't see beyond what she has previously paid for lesser quality photos and/or digitals to see the value that this portrait is going to have, not only to her but to the rest of her family going forward.
Don't we all manage to get the things that we really want and value! She did purchase a small sized digital file that she can view online, and maybe get a small print from it, but I truly believe she will sooner than later regret her decision.
Friends, you can’t put a price on your family or how valuable a family portrait will be to you (and your family) in a year, five years, fifteen years and beyond. And if you haven't read my blog post on the importance of printing your photographs, click this link because you need to read it.
Yes, a high quality, professionally printed, archival wall portrait is an investment. Things that last and that have value typically are an investment, a worthwhile investment. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to preserve these family moments and memories. Time goes by all too quickly and these moments will be gone. What do you have in your life that really lasts or that is worth having? We all spend money on the things that are important to us. And I know your family is one of those important, even priceless items. I promise, you won’t regret family portraits, today, tomorrow and especially in 10, 20 or 50 years! Leave a legacy for your family today!
Below are just a few of my client family wall portraits, because they do value their family and wanted to capture and preserve these moments!
